I’m a hero in Lagos – BNXN
Nigerian Afro-fusion act, Daniel Benson, better known by his stage name BNXN and formerly known as Buju, has stated that he considers himself a hero in the state of Lagos.
Along with Ayra Starr and Victony, the award-winning musician was on the cover of the most recent issue of Teen Vogue Magazine. In the piece, he expressed his love for Lagos.
According to BNXN, he makes the city’s citizens happy, which is why he’s like “a neighbourhood hero.” In spite of Lagos’ chaos, he said that he likes it.
The ‘Pray’ crooner said; “I really love living in Lagos, because there’s no place like it. Lagos has its own chaos, but I feel like I’m a neighborhood hero in that place now. I just live there and make people happy by just being there. Lagos is fun man. It’s full of everything I love”.
He further said he learnt a lot from his former music label boss, Burna Boy, whom he described as a “beast.”
“There’s a whole lot I’ve got to understand and experience. He (Burna Boy) is a beast. He’s someone who’s so focused, especially when it comes to the craft itself,” BNXN said.
In other news, BNXN stated that he first struggled with the problem of music lovers being uninterested in his tracks He claimed that at the beginning of his career, people weren’t listening to his music since it had an unfamiliar tone.
The artiste, however, said he had to give people time for them to start listening to and enjoying his style of music.
The ‘Pray’ crooner also admitted that it was difficult for him to single out one of his international performances as being his best.
BNXN who was speaking in an interview, said; “At first, the challenge was getting people to listen to me. When something is different from the norm, it might take a little time for people to adjust to it. However, there are some people who enjoy and appreciate it before everyone else come on board.
“There have been a lot (of memorable moments) from performing with Wizkid at the O2 events centre in London, to being on the bill at massive festivals in places like Brussels (Germany), Portugal and Paris (France). There have been many memorable events, and I look forward to creating more amazing memories.”
