Nigerian singer Bloody Civilian has been officially summoned by a High Court in Calabar, Cross River State, over an alleged defamation case filed by Helen Ukpabio, the founder of Liberty Gospel Church.

A court document that surfaced online on February 13, 2025, confirmed that the singer is required to appear within 30 days to respond to allegations stemming from statements she made in November 2024.

Reacting to the claims, Ukpabio’s legal team described them as “reckless, satanic, and libelous,” demanding that the singer retract her statement and issue a public apology. The demand also included publishing apologies in 10 national and international newspapers within 72 hours.

Additionally, Ukpabio is seeking ₦200 billion in damages, citing distress, trauma, and reputational harm caused by the accusations.

Part of the legal notice stated: “Due to this malicious and libellous publication, we demand the sum of two hundred billion naira (₦200,000,000,000) as damages for the distress, trauma, pain, and anguish caused to our client. This amount must be transferred to our chambers within one week of receiving this letter.”
