Blaqbonez Calls Out Industry Heavyweights For Emulating His Release Dates
The Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez, who bills himself as the “Best Rapper in Africa,” has resorted to social media to mock musicians who release new songs on the same dates when he drops his own projects.
Blaqbonez criticised Kanye West, DJ Khaled, Ariana Grande, Drake, Davido, and Asake for releasing music on the same day as his prior announcements in a video he posted on his social media platforms on Thursday.
“In 2020 when I announced my ‘Mr Bombastic’ album, Kanye West decided he was gonna drop the same day,” he began.
“In 2021, when I announced my ‘Sex Over Love’ album, DJ Khaled and Ariana Grande decided they were going to drop the same day.
“The year after that, I decided to announce my ‘Young Preacher’ album, Drake decided he was going to drop his album the same day.
“A year after that, I announced March 31st, Davido decided he was going to drop the same day.
“Somewhere in between, I announced a day Asake said ‘I’m going to drop that day’. “
He went on to announce May 12 as the next day he plans to drop his music, warning other artists to steer clear of that date.
“Y’all need to cut that shit out. I’ve announced May 12. May is the fifth month of the year, twelfth is the twelfth day of the month,” he concluded.
To @davido @Drake @asake @kanyewest @arianagrande @djkhaled and to who else it MAY concern https://t.co/j5d8TzdlcP pic.twitter.com/0hJREDtnbV

Blaqbonez appears to be enjoying the competition, but it remains to be seen whether any of his contemporaries will heed his advice and move their release dates.
