“I Don’t Mind an Open Marriage” — Blaqbonez Shares Bold Take on Relationships

Nigerian rapper Emeka Akumefule, better known as Blaqbonez, has sparked fresh debate online after revealing that he would be comfortable in an open marriage.
Speaking during a recent episode of the In My Opinion podcast, the Back in Uni crooner shared his unconventional views on marriage and intimacy, arguing that many couples struggle to sustain the same level of passion they had at the beginning of their relationship.
According to him, a drop in sexual activity over time is normal, and he sees no problem with partners seeking satisfaction elsewhere as long as emotional loyalty remains intact.
“I don’t mind having an open marriage. Most married couples, you don’t keep having the same amount of sex you were having at the beginning. It will reduce,” he said.
Blaqbonez explained that, in his view, marriage is about more than just physical intimacy.
“If somebody is satisfying her sexually while I’m hustling, touring, I’m not available to be getting intimate with her all the time. That is okay. There’s more to marriage than sex. I don’t mind that you’re sleeping with someone else provided you’re dedicated to me,” he continued.
He also emphasized that emotional and mental bonds matter far more than physical ones, suggesting that no outsider could easily replace what he shares with his partner.
“It will be difficult for a random person to just come and match up with what I have put in there. Nobody is just going to get her sexually and also mentally addicted to them. They probably can’t make her laugh the way I do. If I’m even going to get married, I need two rooms. Me and my wife will only meet when we want to have intimacy.”
The rapper’s remarks have since stirred conversation across social media, with fans split between admiration for his honesty and criticism of his views on open relationships.
Known for his outspoken personality and boundary-pushing lyrics, Blaqbonez has never shied away from challenging traditional ideas, and this latest revelation only reinforces his reputation as one of Nigeria’s most unfiltered voices in modern music.
