“Not every talent will last, but mine will” – Blaqbonez tells rivals

Popular Nigerian rapper Emeka Akumefule, better known as Blaqbonez, has sent a strong message to creatives in the music industry, emphasizing that not every talent will stand the test of time. However, he remains confident in his ability to remain relevant for as long as he chooses.
Taking to social media, Blaqbonez reflected on a past encounter that shaped his perspective on success and longevity.
He recalled an incident from 2017 when an emerging rapper—who had just secured a deal with Olamide’s YBNL Nation—mocked him in a freestyle, casting doubt on his future in the industry.
While he refrained from naming the individual, speculation among fans suggests he was referring to Limerick, a former YBNL signee. According to Blaqbonez, the unnamed artist wasted no time in belittling him after securing a record deal, despite their years of camaraderie in rap battle circles.
Expressing his disappointment, Blaqbonez wrote, “Because u got a deal before me, you added my name to your freestyles, ‘you no go ever blow like Blaqbonez,’ all because Olamide signed you, you thought he was God abi??”
He further criticized the rapper’s attitude, noting how quickly he was willing to undermine a fellow artist. “I pray u see these tweets and reflect on your life, at how quick u were ready to sht on people. We were in rap battle groups together for years, but as them sign u, it was time to shit on me, my work ethic & everything cos you saw into the future and knew I was never going to blow up right??”

Reaffirming his confidence and dedication to his craft, Blaqbonez declared that his talent is built to last. “No be every kind of talent fit last for years. I know who I am, I will be here for as long as I want to be. The music I make nobody can make it. I have fans that have been there since the very beginning, not the ones wey discover me with ‘Bling’ or all that sht, the ones I’m talking about know themselves.”
