Izu Madubueze, the young man involved had committed suicide, after he was allegedly named as a rapist, for engaging in casual sex with a woman who he had previously rejected but then solicited sex from.
Another Twitter user who had been told about the sexual encounters between Izu and the Lady involved contacted him to tell him that she would be adding him to a list of complied rapists and rape apologists.
Madubueze tried to get the woman in question to remove him from her list and when she refused, Madubeze released a public statement apologizing if his actions were misconstrued and days later, news of his death by suicide hit social media.
Blaqbonez reacting to this story said its dangerous to say “We believe victims” on social media without asking for evidence and that no one should have the power to destroy another by typing an unverified story.
He continued with,
“At least before you post an anonymous rape accusation, seek some verification, don’t be the one that’s used to carry out someone else’s vendetta.
We now live in a world where people who don’t believe unverified stories are either bullied into an agreement or tagged rape apologists, this isn’t how we get the change we seek. RIP IZU”
Just saw this izu story, buttresses my point that its too dangerous to simply say “We believe victims here”, we all need to seek evidence, no one person should have the power to destroy another by just typing an unverified story #justiceForIzu
