This was confirmed by the media outlet billboard in a story published to that effect and a social media post applauding the Chocolate City artist for doing such:
The Nigerian rapper debuts thanks to his featured appearance on CKay’s “Hallelujah.” The song, released May 5 through Warner Music Africa, opens at No. 26 on the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart. Blaqbonez (real name Emeka Akumefule) has released two studio albums: Sex Over Love in 2021, and Young Preacher in 2022, both on Chocolate City Music.
The ‘Sex Over Love‘ rapper might record another entry with his recent collaboration with American rapper Ludacris on the hit song “Cinderella Girl,” which was released on Friday, May 12, 2023.
Recall, Blaqbonez has warned followers not to anticipate any snippets of the music he intends to release on May 12.
He resorted to social media to explain why he believes releasing bits of his music detracts from the first-day listening experience.
Blaqbonez has stated that he wants his listeners to ‘unpack everything all at once’ and ‘lose their minds’ when they hear the new music.
To watch their initial reaction, he even asked people to record a video of their first listen.
In his words:
“I wont be posting any snippets of May 12th, cos I feel like them snippets are taking away from that first day listening experience.
“I need you guys to unpack everything all at once, I want you to LOSE YOUR MIND, and I need a favor, I want you to make a video of your first listen, I want to see your first reaction. thank you,” he tweeted.
