‘I don’t smoke marijuana’ – Black Sherif

Black Sherif discloses that he is a non-smoker.
Rising Ghanaian musician, Black Sherif reveals he doesn’t smoke regardless of how he talks about it in his songs.
He made this known in an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz 103.9 FM, after he was asked if he actually smokes the herb based on how he features it in all of his popular songs.
Andy Dosty, the host of Daybreak Hitz, looked surprised by the artiste’s comment, and he repeatedly asked him if he didn’t smoke.
This is due to the fact that the singer sings about weed frequently in his first and second sermon songs, both of which are highly popular.
In ‘First Sermon’s’ second stanza, anyone will assume he smokes as he sings; “roll it tight and I’m dazing” and that the hustle on the “streets” makes him “high on a daily.”
In the ninth stanza of ‘Second Sermon,’ the singer dedicates 8 lines to marijuana.

However, in the interview on Thursday, April 7, he said: “boys are rolling” and are “burning the beat” in his songs but he doesn’t smoke.
“I don’t smoke. And I am not telling anyone to do it. When I talk about smoking, it’s actually about smoking the beat. We are burning the beat. Na ayɛ shishiishi,” he said.
He went on to state emphatically that, the fact that he speaks about marijuana in his songs, does not necessarily mean he is encouraging his fans to smoke.
“I don’t tell them to smoke through my song. I only do that in my song to burn the beat as a way to keep the song going”, he stressed.
Black Sherif released his latest single for the year titled “Kwaku The Traveller” last week Thursday.
The song has been on top of the charts, and that is not only in Ghana but in Nigeria and The Gambia as well.
He is hoping to chalk more milestones in the following months and years to come.
