Talented Ghanaian musician Mohammed Ismail Sherif Kwaku Frimpong, professionally known as Black Sherif, has been awarded a plaque by the artist-first music streaming platform Audiomack for achieving 100 million streams on the platform.

Black Sherif made his debut in 2019 with the release of his song “Cry For Me” on YouTube. Since then, he has dominated the music market with his hit singles “First Sermon” and “Kwaku The Traveller,” which reached the top of numerous international music charts.

In August 2020, he made his first upload to the Audiomack platform, where his singles “Money,” “Cry For Me,” and “Destiny” helped him gain popularity online. Black Sherif released “Second Sermon” last year as the follow-up to his song “First Sermon,” which was remixed by fellow African musician Burna Boy.

Jason Johnson, vice president of marketing and brand strategy for Audiomack, and Charlotte Bwana, director of brand and media partnerships for Audiomack, gave the award to Black Sherif as he finished his performance at the Afronation concert in Ghana.

Jason Johnson also added saying, “At Audiomack, we are committed to pushing African music forward and recognizing artists who put in the effort to create good music is just one of the many different ways we aim to reinforce that commitment.”

Expressing his gratitude to his fans and the Audiomack team, Blacko, as he is often called, thanked everyone for streaming his music and urged them to continue to stream his new album ‘The Villain That Never Was” on the Audiomack.

Through its numerous initiatives, Audiomack has maintained over the years its dedication to expanding the African music business. By recognizing and honouring artists, they want to reinforce this dedication in a number of different ways.

Numerous artists from throughout the continent have continued to receive recognition from the company, including Rema, Fireboy from Nigeria, Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy from Ghana, and many others.
