Just five minutes later, he followed up with a close-range header for his second goal, before completing the hat-trick with a stunning right-footed shot from distance, catching Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford off guard. Remarkably, only 16 minutes elapsed between his first and third goals. The excitement continued after halftime, with Palmer adding a fourth goal from the penalty spot.

      Palmer has been the standout performer for Chelsea this season, carrying a team that has struggled otherwise. His remarkable achievements include a hat-trick in the thrilling 4-3 comeback victory against Manchester United earlier this month, followed by an even more impressive feat of scoring four goals against Everton.

      With this, Palmer now shares the top spot in the Premier League goalscoring charts with Erling Haaland, both tallying an impressive 20 goals.

      His first goal of the night also marked his 20th goal of the season across all competitions, a milestone not achieved by a Chelsea player since Eden Hazard in the 2018/19 season, and notably, the first Englishman to do so for the club since Frank Lampard’s 27-goal haul in 2009/10.

      Chelsea’s trajectory this season seemed bleak not long ago, as they were poised to finish in the bottom half of the Premier League for the second consecutive year. However, Palmer’s stellar form has catalyzed a surge up the standings, bringing them within three points of sixth-placed Newcastle with a game in hand, and firmly placing European qualification within reach.

      Their upcoming fixtures against fourth-placed Aston Villa, fifth-placed Tottenham, and eighth-placed West Ham will be crucial, with Chelsea’s fate largely in their own hands. But first, they face an FA Cup semi-final showdown against Manchester City at Wembley on April 20th.
