Bella Shmurda: Mohbad nearly committed suicide during rift with Naira Marley
Bella Shmurda has spoken candidly about how Mohbad attempted suicide while embroiled in his dispute with his former record company, Marlian Music.
On October 5, 2022, Mohbad took to Twitter to call out his former record label and then uploaded videos of himself with various body wounds.
He said that he was assaulted for attempting to remove his manager, who was “their brother,” from his position.
The street-hop artist and rapper recently gave the record company, through its owner Naira Marley, a termination notice over alleged unpaid royalties over a three-year period and physical abuse.
However, the artist appears to have moved on from the label because he released a few tracks following the controversy.
Bella Shmurda, who once called out Naira Marley, maintained his position regarding the unfair treatment Mohbad received from the Marlian music label in a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo.
According to Bella, Mohbad once attempted to jump from a story-high building because of the difficulties he was experiencing with his label.
The “Fela born” singer disclosed that the singer’s girlfriend walked in on him sitting on the window in an attempt to jump off.

Bella went on to reveal that despite this and the singer even suffering from hypertension, the label maintained that nothing was going on.
“Mohbad is my bro, and before I spoke out, I had been in this thing. Though it was low-key. I saw what happened, even from the first time till this second time. I have always been in loop of things, but at that point someone had to speak for him,” he said.
“I don’t have to say this, but I’ll say this. At a point, me and Mohbad we were in an apartment and Mohbad was like he wants to jump from the upstairs because of this label issues (with Marlians Records).
“We go hold this boy for window. Mohbad don almost jump, na him girlfriend bust enter room see Mohbad sit down for window because of all these things.
“You can’t just keep going under and these people are just forming there’s nothing happening. Something is happening. Something wey fit make you think say you wan take your own life. It’s going to the extreme”
