Bayern Munich provides an update on Sadio Mane as Senegal star limps off injured just 12 days before the start of the World Cup.
Bayern Munich is optimistic; Sadio Mane has escaped catastrophic damage after suffering a knock just 12 days before Senegal’s World Cup debut.
The German champions eased to an emphatic 6-1 win over Werder Bremen on Tuesday evening, a result that moves them four points clear at the top of the Bundesliga.
Mane’s injury, though, overshadowed the outcome because it required medical attention after only 15 minutes after the former Liverpool star went down with a knee injury.
He was replaced by former Man City star Leroy Sane, heading straight down the tunnel for further treatment.
Fears about his participation in the World Cup will arise due to his injury. Senegal’s World Cup campaign begins on November 21 against the Netherlands, and their remaining two group games are against Qatar and Ecuador.

‘I didn’t see him after the game, I hope it’s not a big injury. But I don’t know at the moment, the Bayern boss said. ‘We’ll see tomorrow and then give an update.’
Bayern’s assistant coach Dino Toppmöller offered a slightly more positive update, however.
He told journalists after the game: ‘He got hit on the nerve in the knee area. Apparently, it’s nothing that bad.’
