Kim Min-jae completes €50m move to Bayern Munich despite Red Devils’ interest in Napoli star.
The transfer of South Korean centre-back Kim Min-Jae from Napoli to Bayern Munich has been officially announced.
Last season, Kim was among the best defenders in Europe, helping Napoli win the Serie A and garnering a lot of attention in the process.
The South Korean international, who had been strongly associated with United this summer, has now been officially presented by the German champions following the clubs’ agreement on a €50 million (£43 million/$56 million) transfer.
“Bayern is every footballer’s dream,” said Kim. “I’m really looking forward to everything that awaits me in Munich. For me it means a new beginning.”

Kim will replace Lucas Hernandez, who earlier this month signed with Paris Saint-Germain for a comparable sum.
Kim, 26, has had a fast-paced few years that have seen him go from relative anonymity to becoming a household figure.
Kim played in his native country up until 2019 when he transferred to Beijing Guoan in China. He wouldn’t make his way to Europe until he signed with Fenerbahce for a €3 million cost two years later.
Kim moved from Turkey to Napoli for €18 million after one great season, and now, just 12 months later, the centre-back is moving once more, this time to Bayern, where he will become one of the most expensive defenders in history.
Prior to Bayern’s German Super Cup opener on August 12 against RB Leipzig, he will be hoping to break into Thomas Tuchel’s first team.
