Bayern Munich considering shock approach for ex-Man Utd keeper David de Gea
Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in signing former Manchester United keeper David de Gea due to Manuel Neuer’s delayed return to full fitness after a ski injury.
According to Sport Bild, Yan Sommer, Bayern’s backup goalkeeper, is linked with a move to Inter Milan as he does not want to be a bench warmer when Neuer is fit again.
Bayern have a shortlist of potential targets, including Juventus’ Wojciech Szczesny, but the Serie A club is not willing to let go of him. David Raya from Brentford is also an option, but his height may be a concern for the German club.
Other goalkeepers on Bayern’s radar include Yassine Bounou from Sevilla, Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia, Robert Sanchez from Brighton, and Kamil Grabara from FC Copenhagen.
Inter, on the other hand, is interested in Yan Sommer as a replacement for Andre Onana, whom they sold to Manchester United. However, they are hesitant to pay the transfer fee demanded by Bayern. If Sommer’s move to Inter goes through, Bayern will intensify their efforts to sign De Gea, as they will have only Sven Ulreich as a fit goalkeeper for the start of the season.
