Mavin records signee Bayanni speaks on how he survived a near-death experience
Mavin Records signee Bayanni shared a childhood experience during a recent episode of the Menisms Podcast, recounting a moment when he inadvertently consumed kerosene, resulting in discolored teeth.
The singer delved into the incident from years past, shedding light on the lasting impact it had on him.
“I gave my parents a lot of trouble when I was growing up. When I was really small, when I couldn’t walk, my mum left me in the kitchen. She was about to put the lantern on, so she poured the kerosene inside a small cup and then she put it beside the lantern and left to do something. She came back and found out that the kerosene she had poured in the cup was empty because I drank everything to the last drop. She didn’t even know because I was still sitting there, keeping my cool. She didn’t even know because I was still sitting there, keeping my cool,” he said.

During the podcast, Bayanni recounted the harrowing experience from his childhood, revealing that his mother initially remained unaware of the situation until she noticed he had developed hiccups.
“It was when she smelled my breath that she realized, and my dad wasn’t around at the time, so there was nobody to calm her down. She drove to the hospital like a mad person,” he disclosed.
The singer went on to explain that the first hospital they visited refused to treat him, deeming him “too small,” and advised his mother to “let it go” as they claimed there was nothing they could do.
Continuing his narrative, Bayanni recounted, “Then she took me to another hospital where the doctor happened to be a pastor. He assured her that they would revive me, and indeed they did. However, I developed other issues such as the discoloration of my teeth, which has persisted since then.”
