Ayra Starr’s sophmore album debuts on France charts
Nigerian artist Ayra Starr has made history as the first female Nigerian artist to debut an album on the France Official Albums Chart. Her sophomore release, “The Year I Turned 21,” entered the chart at an impressive #72 position.
“The Year I Turned 21“ is a deeply personal coming-of-age story that highlights Ayra Starr’s versatility. The album blends various emotions and genres to narrate the experiences of a 21-year-old African girl navigating love, loss, and self-discovery. One of the standout tracks, “1942,” features a surprise appearance by Starr’s brother Milar. Additionally, the album includes collaborations with artists such as Giveon on the smooth breakup anthem “Last Heartbreak Song.”
Ayra Starr has been making significant strides in the music industry. Earlier this year, she became the first Nigerian female artist to reach 20 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Her debut album, “19 & Dangerous,” paved the way for her groundbreaking achievements, including dominating the TurnTable Top 50 chart with her viral hit “Bloody Samaritan.”
As Ayra Starr continues to make history, her debut on the France Official Albums Chart is a significant milestone that underscores the growing influence of Nigerian music on the global stage.
