Ayra Starr crowned the Best International Act at MOBO Awards 2025

Nigerian Afrobeats star Ayra Starr has been named Best International Act at the 2025 MOBO Awards, marking a historic moment as the first female artist to win the award in over 15 years.
The ‘Rush‘ hitmaker triumphed in a fiercely competitive category, surpassing top global stars like South African Amapiano sensation Tyla, American rap icons Kendrick Lamar and Megan Thee Stallion, and two-time Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Tems.
Her victory at the MOBO Awards follows an incredible year that saw the release of her sophomore album, ‘The Year I Turned 21,’ as well as an extensive global tour that included performances at prestigious festivals like Glastonbury.
Ayra Starr’s latest achievement solidifies her growing influence on the international stage. In addition to her music success, she was recently featured in Issue 28 of Blanc Magazine, titled “Rule The World,” where she spoke about her journey and the vital role her family and friends have played in shaping her confidence.
The MOBO Awards (Music of Black Origin) celebrate excellence in various genres, including Hip-Hop, R&B, Reggae, Jazz, and African music.
With 2025 already shaping up as a landmark year, Ayra Starr continues to establish herself as one of the most influential voices in contemporary Afrobeats.
