Afrobeats powerhouse Ayra Starr has opened up about her upcoming studio album, describing it as a reflection of both her personal growth and artistic evolution.

The 23-year-old star shared her thoughts during an appearance on Apple Music Radio Takeover, revealing how the project captures her journey into womanhood and showcases a fresh, evolving sound.
“I’m literally becoming a woman, and you can hear that in my music now. I’m growing sonically and I want to try different things, just put myself out there and have fun while doing it,” she said.
Ayra Starr also admitted that there was a time when she got a little too serious about her music, losing some of the fun that originally inspired her creative journey.
“I kind of lost the plot a bit and took it too seriously. It was never that deep,” she added.
Her upcoming album, she explained, is all about reconnecting with that sense of freedom and joy, bringing back the playful energy that first drew her to music.
“I brought the fun back, and we’re enjoying ourselves,” Ayra Starr said.
While she hasn’t revealed the album’s official title yet, fans have already gotten a taste of what’s to come with the release of the lead single, Where Do We Go, ahead of the full project expected later this year.
