Ayra Starr Sets Sights on Grammy, Billboard No. 1, and Super Bowl Halftime Show

Nigerian music sensation Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, better known as Ayra Starr, has shared her bold ambitions for global dominance in the music and entertainment space.
Speaking in a recent interview with eTalk, the 23-year-old Afrobeats star revealed her dream to headline the Super Bowl halftime show, top the Billboard Hot 100, and clinch multiple Grammy Awards.
She also expressed her long-term desire to establish a globally recognized brand in fashion or beauty.
“I definitely want a top Hot 100 Billboard song. That’s a must. I have to have that. I want Grammys upon Grammys. I’m going to tour the world. I feel like I’ve done that, but I want to be able to tour Asia,” she stated.
She continued, “I want a number one record in the world. To be honest, just taking over. I’m already doing that, but I want to do it on a much grander scale. 10 years from now, I want to do my own Super Bowl. Twenty years from now, I want to have my own brand—even before then—but I want it to be a household name… I just want to be able to do something fun and enjoy it.”
Her declarations come shortly after she made history as the first African artist to receive a Latin Diamond certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The milestone was achieved through her cross-continental collaboration with Jamaican producer Rvssian and Puerto Rican singer Rauw Alejandro on the track Santa, which has now surpassed 35 million streams in the U.S. Latin market.
Ayra Starr joins fellow Nigerian star Rema as one of the only African artists with Latin RIAA certifications. Rema previously earned Platinum status for his feature on the hit song Bubalu.
Though a Grammy win still eludes her, Ayra has already broken ground. In 2024, she became the youngest Nigerian female artist to be nominated for a Grammy, earning a nod in the newly created Best African Music Performance category for her international hit, Rush.
The category featured strong contenders like Burna Boy, Davido, Olamide, and Asake, with South African singer Tyla ultimately taking the award for her viral track Water.
With chart-topping goals, international recognition, and a growing global fan base, Ayra Starr’s journey to superstardom appears only just beginning.
