Nigerian sensation Ayra Starr has made history as the first Nigerian female artist to debut on the Billboard 200 with her sophomore album, “The Year I Turned 21.” The album debuted at No. 195 on the Billboard 200, selling 8,000 units in its first week, marking a significant milestone for the Grammy-nominated singer.

Since its release on May 30, 2024, “The Year I Turned 21” has been praised for its brilliant fusion of genres and robust musical offerings. The album broke records for the biggest opening day Spotify Nigerian streams for an album by a Nigerian artist, amassing 1.2 million streams.
Additionally, it set the record for the highest opening day global Spotify streams for an album by a Nigerian female artist, with 6.3 million streams.
