When asked about the essence of being a ‘sabi girl,’ a term she has popularized, Ayra Starr explained, “To be a sabi girl is to be confident, kind, and smart. You have to have sense.”

“My first reality check when I became famous was realizing that there is no privacy, even when you want it to be private,” she began. “The other day at the airport, they stopped me to check my bag, and one of the people there asked, ‘Can I take a selfie?’ I looked at him with so much disappointment. I said, ‘Really? Sorry, I just woke up,’ and he replied, ‘It doesn’t matter.’ I pleaded, ‘Please, please, please,’ and he responded, ‘Why are you shouting, Ayra Starr?'”
The “Bloody Samaritan” singer also reflected on what makes her 21st year so special.
“The year I turned 21 was the year I accepted that I’m just going to be me. I’m going to be audacious and be that girl,” Ayra Starr said.
During the interview, Ayra Starr also answered some quickfire questions about her preferences. When asked if she preferred braids or weave, she chose braids. She also stated she would rather wear high heels over sneakers and makeup over no makeup. When asked about wearing scarves, she chose scarves, and she preferred the Afrobeats music genre over Amapiano.
