    Nigerian award-winning artist Ayra Starr has fervently proclaimed afrobeats as the ultimate genre.

    In an interview with Capital Xtra that surfaced online on Thursday, March 21, 2024, the acclaimed artist attributed the enduring popularity and resonance of afrobeats to her upbringing, expressing gratitude for her role in amplifying the genre for a wider audience.

    Ayra Starr emphasized her deep-rooted connection to afrobeats, stating that it encapsulates everything for her and proudly asserting its superiority. When asked about her favorite afrobeat artists, she highlighted Rema and Burna Boy alongside herself, acknowledging their significant contributions to the genre.

    Furthermore, the “Sabi Girl” mentioned her openness to discovering emerging talents, indicating her occasional exploration of up-and-coming musicians within the afrobeats sphere.

    Ayra Starr’s affirmation of afrobeats’ prominence and her admiration for fellow artists reflect the genre’s global impact and continued evolution.

    Ayra Starr aslo expressed her ambition to become one of the leaders of Afrobeats.

    The 21-year-old continued by saying that she wanted the genre to grow to be the most popular globally.

    Speaking in a recent interview with Cosmopolitan UK, she said, “My hope for Afrobeats is for it to be the biggest genre in the world. Because it deserves to be.

    “Other genres of music are great, but there’s nothing like Afrobeat. Even the sad music makes you feel good. So, I want Afrobeats to be the biggest genre in the world and I would love to be one of the leading artists”
