‘I don’t see the need to prove myself to anybody’ – Ayra Starr reveals
Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr is entering a new era of her career, one marked by confidence, authenticity, and self-expression.
The Grammy-nominated singer, who shot to fame as a breakout act under Mavin Records, shared during a recent BBC Radio 1xtra interview that she no longer feels burdened by industry pressure or public opinion. “I don’t see the need to prove myself to anybody,” she affirmed, noting that her music is now a reflection of her personal growth and inner journey.
This mindset inspired her latest release, Hot Body. According to the 22-year-old, the track is less about chasing another hit and more about celebrating her present state of mind.
“I released my song Hot Body because I feel like this is the right time. I’m in the right headspace. I feel good. Right now, my body is better than I have ever felt,” she explained.
With the new single, Ayra Starr signals a bold chapter in her artistry, one where her creative choices are shaped by freedom and self-belief, rather than external expectations.
