Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang names the club he wants to leave Chelsea for.
Chelsea forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has stated his desire to return to Barcelona after the end of the 2022–23 campaign.
A mutual contract termination between Aubameyang’s old club Arsenal and Barcelona was reached, and between February and September of 2022, Aubameyang played for Barcelona.
He actually had a successful first few months in La Liga, scoring 11 goals in 17 games to assist Barcelona through a difficult season on and off the field.
Then, Aubameyang moved to Stamford Bridge for an alleged sum of approximately £10 million to reunite with Thomas Tuchel, his former Borussia Dortmund head coach.
Graham Potter took over when Todd Boehly, the new owner, fired Tuchel, and Auba was soon shunned and even left off the team for the club’s UEFA Champions League knockout rounds.
After being sacked by Potter, the striker has gradually made his way back into the lineup under interim manager Frank Lampard, making several cameo appearances for the Blues.
However, speaking on the DjamLife TikTok feed, the extra game time has not changed the forward’s mind regarding his Chelsea future, with Auba stating which club he’d like to join in the summer: “I’d like to return to Barcelona…but we will see.”
According to reports, the 33-year-old has been told he may go and will be free to transfer. Although Barcelona has him on their list of potential targets, Athletico Paranaense youngster Vitor Roque remains their top pick to add upfront.
Barcelona have enjoyed a fantastic 2022/23 campaign and is all set to secure their first La Liga crown in four years as they sit 13 points clear of second-place Atletico Madrid with just five games remaining.
Xavi’s team has excelled in the league, but due to a lack of quality depth in the squad, they have suffered in cup competitions, both local and European. Signing another forward might help fix this going into the next season.
