Alleged Assault: Ice Prince to remain in prison as witnesses fail to show up
The alleged assault trial of popular Nigerian artist Panshak Zamani, nicknamed Ice Prince, was halted on Wednesday in a magistrate court in Ajah due to the unavailability of prosecution witnesses.
The ‘Oleku’ singer is on trial on three counts of assault, hindering a police officer from carrying out his or her statutory responsibilities, and kidnapping.
The prosecution’s attorney requested an adjournment of the case during the trial due to the absence of his two witnesses.
The court granted him bail in the amount of N500,000 at the prior hearing and required him to produce “two responsible sureties.”
In addition, the court mandated that he remain in custody at the Ikoyi prison until the bail requirements are satisfied.
Folarin Dalmenida, the lawyer to the musician, presented the two sureties to the court.
Operatives of the Ikoyi correctional facility said that the artiste would remain in custody until he meets his bail conditions.
The hearing continues on 24 October.
