ASAP Rocky Acquitted in Felony Assault Case, Avoids Lengthy Prison Sentence

Rapper Rakim Mayers, popularly known as ASAP Rocky, has been acquitted of all charges in a high-profile felony assault trial linked to a 2021 shooting incident in Hollywood.
The Grammy-nominated artist, who shares two children with global superstar Rihanna, had faced the possibility of more than 20 years in prison if found guilty. The case centered around allegations that he discharged a semi-automatic firearm at his former associate, A$AP Relli, during a heated altercation on November 6, 2021, causing an injury to Relli’s hand.
While prosecutors argued that ASAP Rocky acted with intent, his defense team consistently maintained his innocence throughout the trial. After weeks of testimony, the court delivered its verdict, finding the rapper not guilty.
As the ruling was announced, an emotional ASAP Rocky immediately embraced his family members. He first hugged his mother and sister before turning to Rihanna, whose visible relief underscored the significance of the moment.
The verdict marks the conclusion of a closely watched legal battle, allowing ASAP Rocky to move forward without the burden of a potential prison sentence hanging over his head.
