Asake’s ‘Lungu Boy’ goes #1 in the UK & 16 other countries
Nigerian Afropop sensation Asake’s latest album, “Lungu Boy,” has achieved remarkable success, soaring to the top of the charts in multiple countries. The album, released on August 9, 2024, has claimed the #1 spot on the Apple Music chart in the United Kingdom and an additional sixteen countries.
“Lungu Boy” continues Asake’s trend of dominating the UK music scene, following in the footsteps of his previous albums, “Mr. Money With The Vibe” and “Work of Art,” both of which also reached #1 in the UK. This makes “Lungu Boy” his third consecutive album to achieve this milestone.
The album is highly experimental and features collaborations with several international stars, including Nigerian Afrobeats icon Wizkid, American rapper Travis Scott, Brazilian singer Ludmilla, and British rappers Stormzy and Central Cee.
The project has quickly gained traction, generating impressive streaming numbers and topping charts both locally and internationally.
In addition to its success in the UK, “Lungu Boy” has also reached #1 on Apple Music in Asake’s home country, Nigeria, as well as in Benin, Gambia, Mali, Sierra Leone, Cameroon, Kenya, Liberia, Senegal, Tanzania, Niger, Uganda, Ghana, Malawi, Ireland, and Senegal.
As the album’s momentum continues to build, Asake is set to make a significant impact in the UK once again, with plans to headline the iconic 20,000-capacity O2 Arena for the second time as part of his upcoming *Lungu Boy* world tour.
Asake’s “Lungu Boy” album is now at #1 on UK Apple Music Albums Chart.
