Asake’s “Lungu Boy” sweeps TurnTable Top 100 chart with 5 entries
Asake’s latest album, “Lungu Boy,” has made a historic impact on the TurnTable Top 100 chart, securing an unprecedented five entries in the top 10, including a chart-topping single.
This achievement marks a significant milestone in Asake’s career, solidifying his status as a leading force in the music industry.
Released on August 9, 2024, “Lungu Boy” features collaborations with several superstars, including Grammy-winning Nigerian icon Wizkid, British rappers Central Cee and Stormzy, American superstar Travis Scott, and Brazilian singer Ludmila.
The chart-topping single “MMS,” featuring Wizkid, debuted at number one, while “Active,” his collaboration with Travis Scott, climbed to number two. Additionally, “Wave,” featuring Central Cee, “Mood,” and “Fuji Vibes” secured positions at numbers five, seven, and nine, respectively.
This remarkable achievement underscores Asake’s growing influence and popularity, as well as the album’s commercial success. “Lungu Boy” has also shattered records on Spotify Nigeria, achieving the biggest opening week and largest opening day global streams for a Nigerian album.

Notably, Asake’s sophomore album, “Work of Art,” also remains in the top 10, further highlighting his impact on the music scene.
Asake’s feat places “Lungu Boy” second only to Davido’s record-breaking fourth album “Timeless,” which had eight songs in the top 10 of the TurnTable Top 100. “Lungu Boy” set a new record for the biggest opening week on Spotify Nigeria, garnering 18.9 million streams, surpassing Davido’s previous record of 14.4 million streams.
The album also leads the list of the biggest opening weeks on Spotify Nigeria, ahead of releases by Davido, Rema, Burna Boy, and Wizkid. Asake is now the only artist with two albums in the top 10, with “Work Of Art” garnering 8.3 million streams in its opening week.
This monumental success comes just four days after “Lungu Boy” surpassed Rema’s “Rave & Roses Ultra” for the biggest opening week on Spotify Nigeria in 2024.
The album also set a new record for the biggest opening day global streams for a Nigerian album on Spotify, with 9.2 million streams.
The second track on the album, “MMS,” recorded 870,577 streams on its first day of release on Spotify Nigeria, setting a new platform record by surpassing the previous 626,000 streams set by Wizkid’s “IDK” featuring Zlatan.
