Asake’s highly anticipated collaboration with Wizkid, “MMS,” made a stunning debut on streaming platforms, amassing over 121,000 streams on Spotify Nigeria within just six hours of its release. This remarkable achievement earned the track a debut at #9 on the platform’s charts.

Notably, “MMS” is reportedly the first song in history to surpass 100,000 streams on Spotify Nigeria in such a short tracking period, highlighting the immense popularity of both Asake and Wizkid.

“Lungu Boy,” the album featuring “MMS,” follows Asake’s previous successful projects, “Mr. Money With The Vibe” and “Work of Art,” which have firmly established him as a leading figure in the Afrobeats genre.

Currently, Asake is on his “Lungu Boy World Tour,”  which kicked off on June 26, 2024, at Afro Nation Portugal and is scheduled to conclude on October 6, 2024, at the Promiseland Festival in Gold Coast, Australia.

In a heartfelt and unexpected move, Wizkid has broken his silence on the loss of his mother, sharing an emotional verse on the song. In this poignant verse, Wizkid opens up about his deeply personal feelings, paying tribute to his late mother and expressing the profound pain and grief he continues to endure following her passing.

This marks the first time Wizkid has publicly addressed his mother’s death through music, following criticism for not doing so on his previous EP.

Many fans had hoped he would use his platform to process his grief and seek closure, making this verse on “MMS” particularly significant.

Asake’s “Lungu Boy” dropped on Friday, August 9, 2024, and has already been making waves on Nigerian social media. The collaboration with Wizkid on “MMS” has sparked considerable interest, with many praising Wizkid’s heartfelt and vulnerable verse.
