Nigerian singer Asake has expressed profound sorrow following a tragic stampede at his concert in Nairobi, Kenya, which reportedly resulted in the death of a fan.

The incident occurred on Friday, December 20, during his performance in the Kenyan capital. Eyewitness reports and local media indicated that overcrowding and sudden movement within the venue led to panic, causing a stampede that injured several people and claimed the life of Karen Lojore.
Taking to Instagram, Asake shared a heartfelt message:
“I am devastated by the tragic incident that took place at the festival on Dec 20th in Nairobi. My heart goes out to the family, friends, and loved ones of Karen Lojore, and I pledge to support and do my best to understand what happened. Those responsible should be held accountable.”
He added:
“Music has always been my way of sharing love and joy, and it breaks my heart that anyone had to experience such loss. My thoughts are with everyone grieving, and I pray that Karen rests in peace. God bless Kenya.”

The tragedy has renewed concerns about crowd control and safety at large concerts, particularly during the festive season. Similar incidents were reported in Nigeria this December, including Fola’s What a Feeling concert and BNXN Live in Concert, both of which faced overcrowding issues and fan complaints, prompting apologies and, in some cases, refunds.
Asake’s statement emphasized the importance of accountability and safety while offering prayers and support to those affected, highlighting the music community’s growing awareness of event management challenges at large-scale shows.
