Asake’s ‘Lonely At The Top’ becomes all time longest #1 song in Nigeria.
Nigerian Afro-fuji sensation Ahmed Ololade, known professionally as Asake, has achieved a remarkable feat with his single ‘Lonely At The Top,’ making it the longest-running number one song on TurnTable Top 100, Nigeria’s only aggregate chart system that combines data from radio, TV, and streaming platforms.
‘Lonely at the Top’ has logged an impressive 12 non-consecutive weeks at the top of the chart, setting a new record as the longest number one song since TurnTable started aggregating data in 2019.
This achievement surpasses the previous record of 11 weeks held by Omah Lay’s 2020 hit single ‘Godly.’
Asake’s journey to superstardom began with his breakout single ‘Omo Ope‘ in January 2022, and he quickly rose to become one of Afrobeats’ biggest stars.
He continued to release consecutive chart-topping singles and solidified his success with the release of his record-breaking debut album, ‘Mr. Money With The Vibe.‘
In 2023, Asake continued his impressive run with the release of his sophomore album, ‘Work of Art,’ which led to a monumental performance at the iconic O2 Arena.
Asake’s rise to the top has been nothing short of a fairytale, as it took him less than 20 months to score his first mainstream hit single before selling out the 20,000-capacity O2 Arena.
With ‘Lonely at the Top‘ becoming the longest-running number one song of all time in Nigeria, Asake also extends his record as the artist with the most number one songs and the artist who has spent the longest time at the top of the chart.
