Asake’s ‘Lungu Boy’ Named Biggest Album of 2024 by TurnTable Charts
Nigerian music sensation Asake has achieved a remarkable milestone. His third studio album, ‘Lungu Boy,’ was named the biggest album of 2024 by TurnTable Charts.
Released on August 8, 2024, the project secured its spot atop the annual end-of-year chart with an impressive 214.4 million streams, equivalent to 143,000 units.
TurnTable revealed that ‘Lungu Boy‘ garnered more acclaim across streaming platforms than any other album released in 2024. The project features collaborations with high-profile artists, including Nigerian Grammy winner Wizkid, British rappers Stormzy and Central Cee, and Brazilian superstar Ludmilla.
The album showcases Asake’s intention to expand his reach to a global audience through a mix of Afrobeats, Amapiano, and international influences.
Following ‘Lungu Boy,‘ Seyi Vibez’s ‘NAHAMciaga’ EP ranked second with 174.9 million streams (116,600 units). The EP’s success was driven by hit singles like ‘Different Patterns,’ which emerged as the most-streamed song of 2024 on Apple Music Nigeria, and ‘Cana,’ another fan favourite that dominated the charts.
Young Jonn’s debut album ‘Jiggy Forever‘ claimed the third spot with 162.2 million streams (108,000 units). The album features hit tracks such as ‘Aquafina,’ ‘Bahamas,’ ‘Stronger,’ and ‘Big Big Things,’ a standout collaboration with Kizz Daniel and Seyi Vibez.
Rema’s daring sophomore album HEIS secured the fourth position with 153.8 million streams (102,533 units). Known for its bold and energetic delivery, the Grammy-nominated artist combined dynamic production with chest-thumping lyrics, reclaiming the Afrobeats dance floor from Amapiano’s dominance.
Asake’s sophomore album ‘Work of Art,’ released in 2023, rounded out the top five with 148 million streams (98,666 units). The project’s hit singles ‘Lonely At The Top’ and ‘Remember‘ continue to resonate with fans, underscoring his influence on the mainstream music scene.
Other standout projects include Ayra Starr’s sophomore LP ‘The Year I Turned 21,‘ which earned 93.5 million streams (62,333 units). Davido’s record-breaking fourth album ‘Timeless,’ released in 2023, ranked 19th with 69.1 million streams (46,066 units), further cementing his legacy in the Nigerian music industry.
The recognition of ‘Lungu Boy‘ as the year’s top album underscores Asake’s dominance in the music industry, his ability to craft chart-topping hits, and his growing influence on the global stage.
