    Adekunle Gold

    Adekunle Kosoko known professionally by his stage name, Adekunle Gold was born on January 28, 1987, into the Kosoko royal family of Lagos State, Nigeria.

    Adekunle has a  Higher National Diploma in Arts and Design from Lagos State Polytechnic.

    Adekunle Gold who grew up listening to King Sunny Ade and Ebenezer Obey was a member of his church’s junior choir during his teenage years and wrote his first song at the age of 15.

    In 2014, Adekunle went solo after disbanding from a music group he formed with a friend while in school.

    He first became popular as the King of Photoshop after a picture of him hugging Tiwa Savage which he photoshopped went viral.

    He broke into the music scene with his cover of One Direction’s “Story of my Life” which he titled “Sade” which he released on 19 December 2014.

    The song rose to critical acclaim and was nominated for Best Alternative Song at The Headies 2015.

    Adekunle then went on to sign a deal with Olamide’s YBNL label on March 5, 2015 and released his first official song, “Orente” under the label.

    The singer released the cover and tracklist of his debut album, “Gold” in July 2016.

    The album which is a 16-track project was produced by Pheelz, Masterkraft, B Banks, Sleekamo, Oscar, and Seyikeyz.

    It was however released on 25 July, three days before the originally scheduled date, and peaked at No 7 on the Billboard World Album, Chart on 13 August 2016.

    In 2016, Adekunle Gold exited YBNL after the expiration of his contract and launched his band called “The 79th Element” in reference to the atomic number of gold.

    Adekunle currently has two albums, “Gold” and “About 30” to his credit, and is currently working on an EP called “Afropop” as of July 2020.

    In 2019, Adekunle Gold wedded his longtime sweetheart Simi in a private ceremony and the couple welcomed a daughter called Adejare in May 2020.
