Anthony Gordon snubs Everton training to force Newcastle transfer.
According to sources speaking to ESPN, Anthony Gordon has missed Everton training as he tries to push through a transfer to Newcastle United.
Gordon, 21, was one of several team members who received time off on Tuesday, but according to insiders, the England under-21 international was supposed to report to training on Wednesday but did not. Gordon didn’t show up at Everton’s Finch Farm training facility on Thursday either.
Despite making an early inquiry about the player this month, reports claim Newcastle will not agree to pay Everton’s £60 million asking price for the sale of the highly regarded forward.
Gordon has had a challenging season at Goodison Park, scoring just 3 goals in 18 appearances for the club after Everton turned down Chelsea’s two £40 million and £45 million bids for him last August.

He was accused of smirking at fans who were protesting outside Goodison Park, and as a result, received harsh criticism from Everton fans on social media after the 2-1 home loss to relegation rivals Southampton earlier this month.
The club is looking for a new manager to take over in time for the home match against Premier League leaders Arsenal on February 4 after firing manager Frank Lampard on Monday.
According to sources, Gordon is the subject of negotiations between Everton and Newcastle, with Chelsea reportedly making a fresh bid for the Liverpool-born midfielder who joined Everton at the age of 11.
