Angelique Kidjo shows appreciation to Yemi Alade, Burna Boy, others After her Grammy Win.
Angélique Kidjo, a Beninese renowned singer, songwriter, and performer, did not forget to thank Nigerian singers Burna Boy, Yemi Alade, and Mr Eazi for their efforts in her recent Grammy win.
On April 3, 2021, the 61-year-old won a Grammy for Best Global Music Album at the 64th Grammy Awards, defeating Nigerian singer Wizkid and others who were nominated in that category.
During her acceptance speech, Angélique Kidjo commended Burna Boy, Yemi Alade, Mr Eazi, and others for their many contributions to her winning album “Mother Nature.”
She said:
“When I won [my last] Grammy, I said that the young musicians from Africa are gonna take the world by storm, so I want to thank them: Yemi Alade, Burna Boy, Sting, Mr Eazi…”

Kidjo who is a multiple award-winning artist and a fave of the Grammys released “Mother Nature” in 2021.
On the project, she featured Mr Eazi on the song, “Africa, One of a Kind”, Burna Boy on “Do Yourself” and Yemi Alade on “Dignity.”
Apart from the Nigerian Artists who was featured on her album, Kidjo also enlisted the help of Nigerian producers, Rexxie and Kel P on the project.
