Blaq Diamond wins the legal dispute, and Ambitiouz Entertainment admits this, although they plan to appeal.
After losing the court case against Blaq Diamond, Ambitiouz Entertainment issued a statement. Ndumiso Mdletshe and Sphelele Dunywa, an Afro-pop duet, won a victory on Monday after a lengthy legal struggle that lasted more than six months.
The court found that the record company was not required to remove their song due to a copyright stalemate. The record company declared on Tuesday morning that it accepted the verdict but will still appeal.
“In light of the court order Ambitious Entertainment accepts it with the utmost respect and will comply accordingly. However, we would like to inform our valued supporters that we will be diligently exploring the available legal avenues to appeal the judgement. We believe it is important to exercise our right to respectfully challenge the decision and seek further clarity.”
Ambitious Entertainment declared in summary that “We wish to underline that starting on June 15, 2022, Ambitious Entertainment will not be enforcing any copyright strikes against any works or music written by Blaq Diamond, as directed by the honourable acting Judge Wanless. In this regard, we intend to support the court’s ruling,”.
“Nevertheless, in line with the court judgement, Ambitious Entertainment will continue to raise copyright and ownership disputes against works authored by Blaq Diamond prior to 15 June 2022. This also includes the song Qoma. We are committed to addressing these disputes within the framework of the legal process.”
