Amaarae set to become first Ghanaian artist to headline 2025 Coachella festival
American-Ghanaian singer and songwriter Amaarae is set to make history as the first Ghanaian artist to perform at the prestigious Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Her groundbreaking performances are scheduled for April 13 and 20, 2025, during the festival’s run in Indio, California, from April 11 to 20.
Amaarae, whose full name is Ama Serwah Genfi, has enjoyed a stellar 2024 that solidified her place as a global music icon.
Highlights of her year include a collaboration with American rapper and actor Childish Gambino on his ‘Bando Stone & The New World’ album and joining him on his ‘New World’ tour.
She also performed at Denmark’s Roskilde Festival, further showcasing her international appeal.
Notably, in July 2024, Amaarae became the first female Ghanaian musician to surpass one billion streams across all major platforms, cementing her status as a trailblazer in African music.
Coachella announced Amaarae’s inclusion in its 2025 lineup via Instagram, revealing she will perform alongside international stars such as Travis Scott, Missy Elliott, Megan Thee Stallion, Post Malone, Ty Dolla Sign, South African sensation Tyla, T-Pain, and Nigerian Afrobeat superstar Rema.
