Man United confirm signing of Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.
Manchester United have announced the signing of Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.
The Turkish international joins United on a four-year contract with a one-year extension option for a sum of just over £4 million, replacing Dean Henderson as the club’s backup to first-choice goalkeeper Andre Onana.
Henderson’s departure from Manchester United was announced on Thursday evening.
The 26-year-old has joined Crystal Palace on a permanent basis for a sum of £15 million plus £5 million in add-ons, having made only 29 first-team appearances in a 12-year stint with the club. Henderson has been looking for first-team opportunities for some time and spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest.
Bayindir told club media upon joining: “It is a huge honour to join Manchester United and become the first Turkish player to represent this incredible club.
“I have a passion for success, and I will give everything to help this special group of players to achieve our ambitions.
“I cannot wait to start working with such an experienced goalkeeping unit. We will support each other and drive high standards every day so that each of us is ready to perform whenever called upon.”
John Murtough, Manchester United football director, added: “Altay is an excellent addition to our squad and adds further quality to our already strong group of experienced goalkeepers.
“Having consistently performed at a high level in a strong European league, he has the qualities to support us in achieving our ambitions across all competitions this season and beyond.”
