Wizkid versus Davido: Akon chooses better singer
In a viral interview with content creator Issraissry, Senegalese-American singer Akon was asked to choose between two of Nigeria’s biggest Afrobeats artists, Wizkid and Davido. Surprisingly, he picked Davido.
“I get in trouble for mentioning anything about Davido. I’m gonna go with Davido. He’s the ultimate shouter,” Akon remarked.
It’s worth noting that Akon has collaborated with both Wizkid and Davido in the past. He had also revealed that he tried to sign both artists to his record label, Konvict Music, years ago.

In an interview with BBC 1Xtra, Akon lauded Black Sherif, also known as Blacko, by expressing admiration for his music and characterizing him as the “voice of the African youth.”
When asked about an African artist who symbolizes the continent, Akon recounted how he discovered Black Sherif’s music, highlighting the impact and resonance it holds within the African community.
He said, “I am a huge fan of Blavk sherif right now. I think he reminds me of the energy of myself when I came out. I remember that first record. I was in New York City when a friend of mine named Bako from Mali played me the song, I said ‘yo who the F is that?’ Like you can hear in his voice. You can feel the pain, you can feel the struggle, you hear the challenges but you can just hear a ghetto kid just wanting to get out. It’s the way he says it. You know it’s real and it’s not fabricated”.
