Update on the AKA Murder Investigation
In a recent update from the South African Police Service (SAPS), six individuals linked to the tragic murder of AKA and his friend Tibz in 2023 have been apprehended.
KZN SAPS Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, provided insights into the ongoing case, revealing that four suspects are currently in custody, while the remaining two await repatriation in Eswatini.
The arrested individuals comprise two shooters, two spotters, a coordinator, and the organizer responsible for firearms and vehicles.

Relatedly, days after the release of a tribute single by AKA’s then-girlfriend Nadia Nakai, L-Tido and other friends of AKA were seen pouring alcohol on his grave. This act occurred on January 28, 2024, which marked the late rapper’s posthumous birthday. The friends poured vodka on his grave, specifically a brand he used to promote, Cruz Vodka. AKA’s resting place is at Heroe’s Acre in Westpark Cemetery. The rapper was tragically killed on February 10, 2023, along with Tebello (Tibz) Motsoane, by hired hitmen outside a Durban restaurant.
