Manchester rapper Aitch looks to have revealed Manchester United’s new 2023/24 home shirt three days before its official release by wearing the jersey on stage at Glastonbury.
Aitch, who is from Moston, northeast of the city centre, and a Manchester United supporter, was performing on the festival’s Pyramid Stage on Saturday evening.
He initially had the red shirt tucked into the waistband of his trousers, at which point it wasn’t clear what it was. But the 23-year-old then pulled the item out and put it on, revealing the iconic United badge.
The shirt matches previous online leaks of the new adias home shirt and appears to confirm what the likes of Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Luke Shaw will soon be wearing. But the actual unveiling is not for another few days until Tuesday 27 June.
The new shirt has largely black trim, whereas United had utilized predominantly white accents in each of the previous two seasons. Despite the club deciding to buy itself out of the arrangement three years early in December, TeamViewer remains the front-of-shirt sponsor. At the time, it was confirmed that the German software company would remain on jerseys until a new sponsor was found.
Meanwhile, the adidas branding is consistent with other recent releases in which the sportwear giant’s name has been omitted in favor of the cleaner look of its distinctive three stripes emblem standing alone.
