Adekunle Gold takes the spotlight as the face of the Adidas & Manchester United Street Wear collection.
Afrobeats’ influence in major football events continues to make waves, as Nigerian award-winning artist Adekunle Kosoko, popularly known as AG Baby, takes centre stage as a model for Manchester United’s expansive fashion line in collaboration with Adidas, known as the LFSTLR collection.
Adekunle Gold stands alongside other notable celebrity designers in shaping the Adidas Streetwear brand, a fresh take on football jerseys. This exciting announcement unfolded at an exclusive fashion and culture event held in New York City.
The LFSTLR collection offers an exclusive off-pitch range, reimagining the 2023 season’s third jerseys for some of the world’s most prestigious football clubs, including Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Manchester United, and Real Madrid. This Streetwear line is designed for fans who want to support their clubs while expressing their unique style.
AG Baby has lent his creative touch to the Manchester United edition, emphasizing wearability to allow fans to represent their passion with added comfort and style. The singer, known for his fervent support of the English football giants, exuded the aura of an international model in his pristine ensemble.
Adidas collaborated closely with each club to select a Creative Lead, drawing inspiration from the realms of fashion and music. This ensured that each team’s distinct identity and flair were meticulously integrated into their bespoke attire.
According to Adidas, “LFSTLR blurs the lines between football performance and streetwear culture. The lifestyle collection includes an adaptation of this season’s Manchester United Third Jersey, retaining the overall design blueprint but with a focus on wearability, comfort, and style.”
