Adekunle Gold Reveals How He Personally Sought Out Yinka Ayefele for “Many People”

Nigerian Afropop sensation Adekunle Gold, popularly known as AG Baby, has shared the touching backstory behind his collaboration with gospel legend Yinka Ayefele on his song “Many People.”
In a recent social media exchange, the singer revealed that Ayefele’s distinctive vocals on the track weren’t lifted from an old recording but were specially recorded after he personally visited the veteran musician in Ibadan.
Responding to a curious fan who asked whether the gospel star’s voice was sampled or newly recorded, Adekunle Gold replied,
“I traveled to Ibadan to find him. I said, ‘Sir, I’d love you to record this song again for me and say Eja Nla no be small fish o.’ He said, ‘I’ll do it for you Dekunle.’”
That brief yet heartfelt revelation quickly went viral, drawing admiration from fans who praised Adekunle Gold’s humility and deep respect for the gospel icon.
A video shared alongside the post captured moments from the visit showing the “Party No Dey Stop” crooner touring several Ibadan-based radio stations, including Fresh 105.9 FM and Tiwa N’Tiwa Radio 106.5 FM, both owned by Ayefele.
The clip ends with the two artists exchanging warm smiles and posing together, confirming the beautiful union of Afropop and gospel spirit.
Appearing in his motorized wheelchair, Yinka Ayefele exuded his signature charm and grace. His contribution to “Many People,” a standout track from Adekunle Gold’s latest album, Fuji, serves as a bridge between generations, merging Ayefele’s gospel roots with AG Baby’s modern Afropop rhythm.
Adekunle Gold’s story has since added a new layer of emotion to “Many People,” reminding fans that behind the feel-good melody lies a journey of persistence, reverence, and creative connection between two of Nigeria’s most admired artists.
