Adekunle Gold claims Chelsea have ruined the transfer market
Nigerian R&B artist Adekunle Gold, also known as AG Baby has expressed his disapproval of the substantial amounts of money Chelsea Football Club are reportedly spending on player acquisitions during the current transfer window.
Chelsea, a Premier League team, has purportedly invested around €323 million in transfers during the 2023 summer window. Their latest acquisition, Moises Caicedo, was signed from Brighton for a British-record transfer fee of €116 million (£100 million), which could potentially rise to €133 million (£115 million) with achievable add-ons.
In response to this situation, Adekunle Gold, a supporter of Premier League rivals Manchester United, voiced his opinion that Chelsea’s extravagant spending is detrimental to the sport. This viewpoint reflects concerns shared by some fans about the growing commercialization and financial pressures within modern football.
Taking to Twitter, he wrote; “Man! Chelsea ruined the market this season! Where una see money?”
