AFRIMA: Senegal ready to host African music superstars
The eighth edition of the All-Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA, is a widely anticipated event and Senegal is set to host prominent African musicians, according to AFRIMA.
It is tagged ‘Teranga Edition’ draws nearer, the Ministry of Tourism in Senegal as well as the African Union Commission, Monday, in Dakar, unveiled the programme of events for the annual celebration of African music stars which will be held in Dakar, from January 12 to 15, 2023.
AFRIMA, the organisation that has brought African music to the top of the global music scene, is ready to make sure that the annual four-day festival is aired to music fans and stakeholders in more than 84 nations across the world.
By using music as a vehicle to build Africa’s creative economy, Senegal’s Minister of Tourism, H.E. Alioune Sarr, welcomed visitors to his nation and reaffirmed Senegal’s commitment to achieving the shared goals of the AU and AFRIMA. He was represented by Souleymane Bakhayoko.

The Senegalese government is fully prepared to assure the success of the 8th AFRIMA, also known as “The Teranga Edition,” he added as he continues to praise the work of the AFRIMA team.
On January 11, 2023, as stated at the meeting, the delegates are anticipated to show up. On Thursday, January 12, 2023, the AFRIMA ceremony is set to officially begin with a host country tour, a school visit and a gift presentation (as part of AFRIMA’s Corporate Social Responsibility), as well as a Welcome Soiree that evening in Dakar.
The final day of the four-day celebration is Friday, January 13, 2023, when the Africa Music Business Summit (AMBS) occurs in Dakar’s Grand Theatre. The AMBS is Africa’s biggest gathering of music industry creative professionals, featuring seminars and panel discussions on challenges and prospects.
The 8th AFRIMA will pick up steam at the Grand Theatre’s AFRIMA Music Village, a free concert that will feature live performances by the biggest music performers on the continent.
On Saturday, January 14, 2023, the night before the awards ceremony, the events will get underway with big rehearsals, media appearances, and a courtesy call on the president of Senegal. Additionally, a live recording booth will be available at the venue for musicians from the continent’s five regions as well as from abroad to use for collaborative recordings. A celebration just for nominees will mark the culmination of the day’s events. The event will culminate on January 15, 2023, at the Dakar Arena, which can hold 15,000 people, in Dakar, with the live awards ceremony being aired by 104 TV Stations to more than 84 countries worldwide.
