2020 was a great year for the music industry despite the COVID-19, however, things are showing that it might be a better one in 2021.
Just two months into the new year, Nigerian artists are already putting out amazing projects and singles.
While we anticipate albums from artists like Teni, Blaqbonez, Perruzi, Rema, Mayorkun and the rest, let’s take a look at EPs that have been released in January and February.

Pheelz- Hear Me Out
Pheelz released his debut EP in February. The music producer shocked fans with his singing abilities when he dropped the first single, “One Life” off the project. “Wayward Girl” was the next song to be released, then the whole EP.
While being known as the producer that has produced most of the hit songs to dominate the industry, Pheelz proved himself as a capable singer on “Hear Me Out”.
The five-tracks EP was his rebirth and a show of his vast abilities when it comes to songwriting, producing and artistry.
Ayra Starr- Ayra Starr
Ayra Starr is Mavin Records’ newest addition in 2021. The sultry eighteen-year-old entrance caused a ruckus on Twitter as many people compared her to Tems.
She dropped a self-titled EP hours after her unveiling which contains Five songs including the energetic “Away” and the groovy “Sare”
Ayra’s EP is a coming of age tale of love, heartbreak, and growth. The music fuses components of R&B/Neo-Soul with Afro-pop percussion.
Mr Eazi- Something Else
Mr Eazi dropped his EP, “Something Else” in February and according to the emPawa boss, its the first of many projects he would be dropping in 2021.
‘Something Else’ is a sonically directed EP that is pleasing to the ear, and notwithstanding it showed more maturity, confidence, and control. It is somewhat sonorous and bangs at first listen with good production quality.

Ckay- Boyfriend
On the “Boyfriend” EP, Ckay is like a snake that sheds his skin and starts a new phase. This is no surprise as he dropped it after his exit from Chocolate City.
The EP is a combination of different elements of Dancehall, Latin Pop, Afrobeat and the rest. The seven-tracks is inspired by multiple guitar genres and living up to its title shows off his romantic side.
It features Amaarae, Bianca Costa, Oxlade and KiDi.
