Nigerian singer-songwriter Mayorkun is marking a decade in the music industry with the release of a new single titled “Home Training,” accompanied by its official music video.
The milestone comes 10 years after he made his debut in 2016 with the breakout single “Eleko.”

Produced by longtime collaborator Fresh VDM, “Home Training” explores the different sides of love and how it can influence one’s behaviour. Mayorkun draws inspiration from the familiar Nigerian expression, using the idea of good upbringing and manners to explore what happens when emotions bring out a different side of a person.
The new release also serves as the opening track of his forthcoming EP, Long Live, The Mayor!, with his previously released single “Kaluba” set to close the project. The anniversary celebration therefore extends beyond the new single, offering fans an introduction to the body of work he has prepared for the occasion.

Mayorkun arrives at this milestone following a busy run of releases and collaborations. He recently appeared on “Bumpy Ride,” the tenth track on Harmonise’s 14-track album, after releasing “Kaluba.”
Since making his debut under Davido’s DMW label, the singer has established himself as one of Afrobeats’ recognisable melodic voices. His catalogue includes the albums The Mayor of Lagos (2018) and Back in Office (2021), alongside several successful singles.
With “Home Training” and Long Live, The Mayor!, Mayorkun is celebrating how far he has come while introducing the next chapter of his musical journey.
