Nigerian singer Llona has officially unveiled his sophomore album, “On The Road,” ushering in a new phase of his career with a deeply personal project inspired by life, travel, and self-discovery.

The 12-track body of work follows the success of his critically acclaimed 2024 debut album, “Homeless,” and further establishes the Kogi-born artist as one of the country’s most compelling new voices.

Instead of taking the conventional route of recording his follow-up in a studio, Llona found inspiration on the move. After the success of “Homeless,” he embarked on an ambitious 25-city tour across Nigeria, using the journey as the creative foundation for “On The Road.” Much of the album was written while traveling on a bus, drawing from the people he encountered, the places he visited, and the stories that unfolded along the way.

The result is a project that blends Afrobeats, R&B, and Afro-fusion into an honest reflection on growth, ambition, relationships, identity, and the uncertainties that come with chasing a dream. Through heartfelt songwriting and soulful performances, Llona paints an intimate portrait of both his personal journey and the realities of everyday life in Nigeria.

The album also features an impressive lineup of collaborators. Ghanaian star Black Sherif appears on Cry, American singer Fridayy lends his vocals to Look At Me, while Nigerian artist Morrelo joins Llona on Different Pictures, adding fresh perspectives to the project’s emotional narrative.

Each song explores a different chapter of the artist’s evolution. Look At Me reflects on vulnerability and the importance of leaning on trusted people during difficult moments, while Monster or Not confronts the emotional scars of growing up in challenging circumstances and questions whether past experiences continue to shape his identity.

Masculine Love challenges traditional ideas of masculinity by embracing a version of love built on mutual support and emotional strength; True Colors explores betrayal and broken trust; and What Do I Do celebrates success while reminding listeners of the importance of staying grounded.

Llona’s music continues to be deeply influenced by his Northern Nigerian roots. Growing up in a region that has faced years of conflict, he has long viewed music as a tool for healing, storytelling, and building connections across different cultures and communities.

His rise began with Homeless, a debut album that earned widespread acclaim for its honesty and emotional depth. The project was embraced by critics and fans alike, while the accompanying nationwide tour further strengthened his reputation as an artist committed to creating meaningful experiences for his audience.

Before embarking on that tour, Llona also organised free therapy sessions for fans, reinforcing the themes of healing and emotional wellbeing that have become central to his artistry.

With more than 250 million streams to his name and a steadily growing fanbase, “On The Road” represents another important milestone in Llona’s career.

The album not only showcases his artistic growth but also reinforces his commitment to telling authentic stories that inspire resilience, hope, and purpose, cementing his status as one of Nigeria’s most exciting emerging talents.
