Davido has opened up about the surprising journey behind “B4 B4,” revealing that one of the standout records on his newly released album, ORIADÉ, was never originally intended for him.
During a recent interview with Carter Efe, the Afrobeats superstar disclosed that the song was initially created by Mayorkun and fast-rising singer FOLA before he was invited to contribute a guest verse.
According to Davido, the collaboration took an unexpected turn when Mayorkun eventually handed the record over for inclusion on ORIADÉ.
“They put me on the song. Na Mayorkun & FOLA at first, then Mayorkun sent it to me that he wants me on the song. When I did my verse, Mayorkun said I can have it for my album.”
The revelation gives fans a rare look into how collaborative the creative process can be within the Nigerian music industry, where songs often change direction before reaching the public.

Davido also disclosed that “B4 B4” nearly missed the final cut for the album. He explained that ORIADÉ had already been completed, and he was still undecided about adding the record until a familiar voice from his camp convinced him otherwise.
“I had already finished the album and I wasn’t sure if ‘B4 B4’ would get on it. But Israel DMW said, ‘Oga the song sweet oh, abeg.’ But at least he didn’t leak it like ‘Flex My Soul,’”
