Nigerian singer, songwriter, and producer Tekno returns with his third studio album, Where Did Love Go?, an eight-track project released through emPawa Africa that places love at the heart of its storytelling.

Running for just under 20 minutes, the album offers a concise yet immersive listening experience, with Tekno reflecting on the many emotions that come with relationships. From passion and devotion to vulnerability and heartbreak, the project captures the unpredictable nature of modern romance while staying true to the melodic style that has defined much of his career.
Musically, Where Did Love Go? Blends Afropop with dancehall influences, creating a vibrant soundscape that shifts comfortably between intimate moments and upbeat rhythms. As both the lead artist and producer, Tekno crafts polished instrumentals that allow his smooth vocals and songwriting to remain the focal point.
One of the album’s standout moments arrives on Gently, where stripped-back production complements his tender performance as he sings, “Baby make I talk true? E be you dey calm my mind.” The song highlights his ability to communicate emotion through simple yet effective melodies.
Throughout the project, Tekno explores different stages of love. On Adaeze, he expresses admiration for a partner while searching for ways to make amends after mistakes, while Wedding Day paints an optimistic picture of commitment, drawing inspiration from traditional African sounds.
The album also embraces a dose of realism. On Avelay, Tekno injects humour into the conversation about relationships with the memorable line, “What apology cannot do, money can do,” acknowledging the complicated role financial security can sometimes play in matters of the heart.
Tracks such as Bamboo, Press Button, Matter and Port Au Prince further strengthen the album’s identity, balancing catchy melodies with reflective songwriting to create a cohesive body of work.
Rather than focusing solely on heartbreak, Where Did Love Go? celebrates the full spectrum of romance—its excitement, uncertainty, imperfections and joy. The result is a well-crafted project that once again showcases Tekno’s versatility as both a performer and producer, reaffirming his place among the leading architects of contemporary African pop music.
